If I left my computer on over night, gnome would freak. Actually Pop!_OS does have their own repositories, but they mostly mirror Ubuntu's with some of their own custom packages. Pop!_OS uses Ubuntu's repos, so stability should be the same. Originally posted by leech:Anyhow, time to go back to proper Debian, was hoping Pop_OS was a bit more stable, but it doesn't seem to be. x.org user sessions if both are available on Debian as they are on Ubuntu) I though it was worth mentioning because you're writing a tune-up guide, there might be something to explore here (specially wayland vs. Maybe you bumped into an issue with that? Seems GNOME (when working over Wayland instead of X.Org) was capped at 60fps and became dynamically tuned (depending on the display monitor refresh rate).

It is an old(ish) improvement meant for newer versions of GNOME that was recently backported to currently used versions.

Selectively reducing refresh rate for some components is normal but it doesn't/shouldn't affect the rest of the system and programs/games in any way.īy coincidence I stumbled today on this news: Originally posted by gimalaji_blake:Well I have a high end rig,so when everything works in turtle speed then probably something went wrong during install.Yeah, if everything ran poorly its not expected behavior.

Yes,same here, also tried a lot of Linux distros like Ubuntu,Fedora,OpenSUSE,CentOS and even Mint, nothing really stuck.Debian is a beast, but you need some tinkering to configure it to work properly, once it's done I think there is no point in switching to Windows even for gaming anymore.I really hope that Steam ports all the AAA as well as indie games to Linux someday(Proton is an awesome start),that would be so cool.Microsoft is so annoying and the last 1903 patch is a resource hog with a bunch of glitches. If you look at Windows history-nothing really changed much-same stuff different day from year to year,if you look at Apple well it used to be better than Microsoft but in the last years they became similar,on the other hand when you look at Linux there have been so many improvements even on Ubuntu(which is more user-friendly out of the box) and of course Debian is very good for gaming, even better than Ubuntu is.Hope the guide I made, will make more people interested in at least giving pure Debian a shot.
